How Sobel edge detection works
The Sobel method compares neighboring brightness values in horizontal and vertical directions. Large changes are treated as edges, revealing object boundaries, texture changes, line work, and structural detail.
Edge detection is useful for making drawing references, inspecting product silhouettes, simplifying visual structure, and preparing images for design experiments. It is not a vector tracer, so the download remains a raster image.
